How To Prepare For Your Extreme Bathroom Makeover

Everything needs to be planned. Specially, if you are preparing for an extreme bathroom makeover.  This would require a lot of preparation.  You are not just simply replacing non-functioning items, but you are giving your bathroom a complete facelift.  Just how complex the preparation for a bathroom makeover is?  Here is what you should know.

If you are renting an apartment, then you would have to ask about the landlord’s policies regarding makeovers.  There are some landlords who do not want to renovate or change any part of their property.  However, there are landlords who would allow renovations but with limitations.  It could be just a repaint and nothing more.

Aside from the limitations imposed by your landlords, you would also have to know something about building codes.  Most building codes are concerned with the electricity and plumbing system.  There are certain requirements that buildings should meet, this would ensure the safety of your new bathroom.  You could ask the building administrator for these kinds of information.

For any plan to succeed, you would need something solid to back it up, and that would be research and getting the data.  So, before you start drawing or writing down the kind of design you would like to have, take the necessary measurements.  It would definitely be a problem if the furnishings and other aspects of the bathroom, do not fit the space.

Research about the current trends in bathroom designs.  There are different magazines, television shows, and websites that would give you an idea about the look you want for your bathroom. These sources could open up your mind to possibilities and creative input.  You could also ask professionals for any kinds of tips or advice.  Remember to jot their tips down.

Once you have decided the look you are after, then you would have to decide on the theme.  Themes would unite your designs and colors.  You would have to identify the general feeling you are after. Do you want it to be relaxing, fun, bright or artistic and edgy.  Each feeling would invoke different colors.

Aside from that, you would also have to think about how it would fit to the entire theme of the house. If you have color coordination going on in the other rooms or after a specific design touch, then you would have to consider that. Overall, planning would require you to make decisions.  And these decisions are important, after all, you would be having the bathroom for a long time.  You would  definitely want it to be something you are comfortable with.

During the planning stage, you do not only prepare for the design.  You will also need to plan about storage areas and how you would protect in from the wear and tear it would face for the next years.  For example, if the old bathroom has mold issues, then you would have to eliminate that when you build the new one.  you could install a ventilation fan. It would keep the room ventilated, since molds are formed when water is condensed on the walls. The things that you have considered during your planning stage would be the basis of your budget.

Plans are not perfect. Of course, you may encounter some extreme bathroom makeover blunder along the way, but you would need to be flexible or your contractors need to be flexible, so you could work around the problem.
